## Volunteer Terms & Conditions
Effective Date: 7 april 2025
By volunteering with La Maison Entre Familles, you acknowledge and agree to the following terms and conditions.
## 1. Legal Nature of the Relationship
1.a **Volunteer Status**
This agreement does not constitute an employment contract. The volunteer relationship is non-remunerated, non-binding beyond the terms herein, and does not create a relationship of employment, agency, or fiduciary duty.
1.b **No Authority to Bind**
Volunteers may not represent or bind the organization in any legal or financial matter unless expressly authorized in writing.
## 2. Volunteer Responsibilities
2.a **Duties and Commitment**
As a volunteer, you agree to perform your duties diligently and according to the schedule and roles assigned by La Maison Entre Familles. You must notify us in advance if you are unable to attend your scheduled shift.
2.b **Professional Conduct**
You are expected to behave in a respectful and professional manner at all times when representing the organization. This includes treating everyone with dignity, following staff instructions, and collaborating effectively with both fellow volunteers and staff.
2.c **Confidentiality**
You agree to maintain the confidentiality of any sensitive information encountered during your volunteer activities—including details about the families we serve and internal organizational matters. This obligation survives the end of the volunteer relationship.
## 3. Health and Safety
3.a **Compliance with Organizational Policies**
You agree to adhere to all health and safety policies of La Maison Entre Familles, including those related to food handling, workplace safety, and any applicable mandates or public health directives.
3.b **Fitness for Duties**
It is your responsibility to ensure you are physically and mentally fit to perform the assigned tasks. If you feel unwell or are otherwise unable to volunteer, please inform us immediately.
3.c **Incident Reporting**
Volunteers must report any injury, accident, or unsafe condition to staff immediately and complete an incident report where applicable.
## 4. Conduct and Ethics
4.a **Non-Discrimination and Respect**
La Maison Entre Familles is committed to a work environment free of discrimination, harassment, or bias. You agree to respect the diversity of all individuals, including fellow volunteers, staff, and the families served.
4.b **Substance Use**
Consumption of alcohol or illegal drugs during volunteer shifts is strictly prohibited. Any volunteer found under the influence during their shift may have their volunteer status terminated immediately.
4.c **Code of Conduct**
Volunteers agree to adhere to the organization’s Volunteer Code of Conduct, attached as Appendix A.
## 5. Insurance and Risk
5.a **Personal Insurance**
Volunteers are encouraged to secure personal insurance for medical, accident, and liability coverage. La Maison Entre Familles does not provide insurance coverage for volunteers.
5.b **Assumption of Risk and Waiver**
You understand that volunteering involves inherent risks. You voluntarily assume full responsibility and waive any claims against La Maison Entre Familles except in cases of gross negligence or intentional misconduct.
5.c **Indemnification**
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the organization from any third-party claims arising from your conduct while volunteering.
## 6. Intellectual Property and Media
6.a **Photos and Media**
You consent to the use of your image, voice, and likeness in photos or videos captured during your volunteer work for promotional and educational purposes, including on social media, websites, and newsletters
6.b **Ownership of Materials**
All materials, reports, or other works produced during your volunteer service remain the property of La Maison Entre Familles. You agree not to use these materials for personal or commercial purposes without prior written consent.
## 7. Termination of Engagement
7.a **Termination by the Volunteer**
You may terminate your volunteer service at any time by providing prompt notice, which will help in planning and coordination.
7.b **Termination by La Maison Entre Familles**
La Maison Entre Familles reserves the right to terminate your volunteer status at any time if you fail to meet the expectations or policies outlined herein.
## 8. Data Protection
8.a **Personal Data**
The organization will collect and store personal data related to your volunteer work (such as contact information, emergency contacts, and volunteer hours) in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable Canadian privacy laws, including those specific to Québec.
8.b **Access and Rights**
You have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal data, as detailed in our Privacy Policy.
## 9. Governing Law
9.a **Jurisdiction**
This agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Canada, including the applicable laws of Québec.

By volunteering, you agree with the terms and conditions stated above.
